1st October 2016 is UN International Day of the Older Person, known in the UK as Older People’s Day. This is a day of celebration of the older person and their value within society. It also is an opportunity to raise awareness of the issues and challenges of ageing in today’s busy world. It is so important that older people are valued and considered; it is proven that a positive attitude towards getting older can dramatically improve life expectancy.
As a Wills and Probate specialist, Illuminate Legal in Odiham deal with the elderly with compassion, sensitivity and dignity. We are proud to be accredited members of Solicitors for the Elderly and know that Wills and Probate matters are something that comes more in to focus as we age. We know from experience that our older clients are often the ones that have time to talk and can very often be the most entertaining and fun (!) to deal with. As a family-friendly Hampshire firm, we also know that the young can gain a huge amount from time with those from generations above them. The reality is that one day we will all be the ‘older person’. When we lose members from our own families or we watch our parents or grandparents deal with struggling health, our need to plan for a time when we are older (or help them with their own plans) may be emphasised. We may consider our own personal arrangements regarding Wills and Powers of Attorney. Illuminate Legal can help with this. Please contact us if you want to know how more about how we can help you plan for older age. However, for 1st October 2016 – Older People’s Day – we are going to focus on the older people in our families and communities and remember the contribution that they, and those that have gone before them, make to our lives. In our case, that contribution has been huge and will last a lifetime.
